Goodbye House!

Well, I'm no longer a home owner . . . and it is a little weird . . . probably even more weird that for the first time ever, I no longer have an Ohio address . . . I guess this move thing we did is starting to look more permanent :)

Anyhow- in tribute to our old home, I add this image of our family at home before we moved. (Thanks Stephen!)

As far as how our new place is treating us, we're doing well! Work weeks keep us busy during the day and lazy at night while weekends keep me begging Mark to go out and explore whichever street seems to be having a festival : )

For now, we're just trying to establish our groove and find a day trip for Labor Day Weekend.

Take care all our friends + family! We miss you!

Apartment, sweet apartment . . .

Finally, we've got a spare room and clear walkways! Not to mention the fact that we can see the top of the coffee table!

We're getting more settled, which is quite good- and today even Amber seemed more at home on our walk- we found a new park to take her and it is swell.

We can't wait to show someone around our new home- until then, Gary says hello!

How lucky am I!

So somehow I was lucky enough to get a desk where I have a view of the Willamette River! I'm on a mezzanine level of our office which keep us tucked away, but the view is certainly worth it :)

Portland, we're finally here!

Well, we've made it- though for the moment, it seems parts of us are still catching up!
We arrived officially on Monday, the 2nd and our belongings were dropped off on the 3rd (luckily we were able to gather the proper permit stuffs pretty quickly).
As far as what we've unloaded, we've got places to sit and our bed is finally whole (i.e. mattress and frame) and the kitchen is slowly coming together. Books have been brought in, but shelves are still in pieces, so that will take at least the next week- many understand this after seeing our library in Columbus.
Before I forget, though, our townhome/rowhouse dealie has so far turned out quite well considering we signed the lease without having stepped inside. The garage & W/D are on the first level, followed by the kitchen + living + dining space with a balcony off the front and small deck and backyard off the kitchen in the rear. Upstairs we've got 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms- overall this place is at least 1 1/2x the size of the little blue house :)
The ceilings are 9 ish feet making the staircases very long- not so much fun for moving . . . but does give an open feel overall.
This week has been just as warm as Columbus- low-mid 90s, but w/ significantly less humidity- and no rain- which is a bit odd after it rained every day for a little while during our visit in early June.
So other than unpacking and trying to finally get a good night's sleep, we've only managed to visit 2 Targets over 3 days, Home Depot 2x, and 4 visits to various grocery stores-
it certainly takes a bit of time adjusting to a new home- esp when you can't bring cleaning supplies and food stuffs.
At least last night we had a pretty good view of fireworks from our bed- chose not to go downtown mostly to keep the poochie calm- a number of neighbors were shooting off their own fireworks.
I'm hoping to post a few photos of the new place and such- note Gary who keeps watch of our balcony!
That's about all for now- but I will try to update when I can.

new blog!

So in our big moving adventure, I've decided to blog our experiences and new home! This seems to be the easiest way to keep friends and family in the loop : )

Feel free to respond with a post or an e-mail!

Thanks for reading!
